Hornets' Nests Removal

Hornets are social insects. They always go together and live together in the same place where their hive is located. The bad thing is, they are always protecting their hive from dangers; that is their instinct. Once they can sense any threats, they would always attack any animals and even humans who are near their hive. And the worse thing is that, they always attack in hundreds. These insects are very sensitive that anything strange to them, they would always consider it as threat to their safety. That is why, if you can find hornets' nest or hive in your backyard, you better do something to remove it from there especially if you have children who often play in the yard. There are hornets which can really kill human like the Asian Giant hornets; 5 stings from them and the person will suffer from too much pain which would lead to death if not treated immediately after they stung. So, never let the day pass without removing their home from your own home.

Here are some simple steps to remove the nest of the hornets which you can do on your own to ensure the safety of your family:

Step 1
Before doing anything, be sure to have the following:

- Insecticide or any poison effective for insects like bees and hornets
- Hedge Clipper, the one with a very long handle
- Gloves to protect your hands
- Goggles to protect your eyes
- Protective suits with thick fabric to protect yourself from possible attacks
- Plastic bags or sacks

Step 2
Never do anything until the sun sets down. Just like humans, they would also sleep at night. They don't have the eyes like owls. That is why they will also sleep at night. Also, they become lazy when the temperature is low.

Step 3
Get into your thick clothing, gloves and goggles. Put your sack directly below the nest or hive opened wide to catch the nest. It would be better if you have a partner who will help you.

Step 4
If the nest is hanging on a branch, then cutting the branch would surely bring it down or breaking the upper part of the hive will. The hedge clippers can surely destroy it to fall into the sack. If that happens, then you will not have further problems but to secure the sack properly.

Step 5
If the hive is attached to your gutter or roof, then you will not have any choices but to break and destroy the hive. However, you need to have a smoke from where you stand so that you can prevent their attacks. At night, hornets can hardly see and when there is a smoke around, that will make them harder to breathe.

Step 6
If you already have the nest or hive inside your sack, secure it by tying a rope in the sack's opening so that they can not get out. You will also need to make sure that the sack is durable enough not to be chewed through. It is also better to have the sack without any holes underneath so that they cannot breathe inside. You can burn the sack in a really large fire.

Step 7
Hornets have habitual instincts so if there are no threats in the place where their hive was first built, they would always come back. So it is better to change the environment by pruning the trees or repainting your house or just the part where their hive was found.
